North East Archers is a member of a large number of associations, and works closely with varied partners in order facilitate the opportunities that we provide.


World Archery Federation

Previously known as: FITA

World Archery is the international governing body for Archery, and is responsible for archery throughout the world, and is composed of 156 national federations and other archery associations.

International tournaments including the Olympics, the Archery World Cup, the World Archery Championships and archery at the Commonwealth Games are also overseen by World Archery. This also enables them to keep and maintain the world records.

World Archery is also responsible for running award schemes for various levels from beginner to professional abilities.

World Archery write the official rules in use at the Olympic Games and other international competitions, as well as various competitions throughout the United Kingdom.

Archery GB

Previously known as: GNAS

Archery GB is the governing body of Archery within the UK, and is responsible for all forms of archery within the United Kingdom (target, field, clout and flight).

They are responsible for the judges provided at competitions, and also for organising coach training and assessment. This is in addition to their work with the national squad and promoting archery as a sport throughout the country.

Based in Lilleshall they are responsible for over 1,100 clubs, and 40,000 members throughout the United Kingdom. They are also responsible for insuring archery as a sport, and maintaining all national records. Most competitions are ran under rules written by Archery GB.

Northern Counties Archery Society (NCAS)

Northern Counties Archery Society are one of the 8 regional bodies, responsible for archery within northern England and the Isle of Man.

NCAS is also responsible for organizing regional level tournaments.

Durham and Northumberland Archery Association (DNAA)

Durham and Northumberland Archery Association are one of the 5 counties within NCAS, responsible for archery within 'Durham and Northumerberland' - though this now includes everything between the Scottish border, just south of Middlesbrough, and across to the middle of the country

DNAA is also responsible for organizing county level tournaments, as well as maintaining the county records. This is in addition to selecting a squad to represent the county in competitions throughout the country.

DNAA also run various leagues for archers within the area, including the logical league and postal leagues, and administering these schemes.


We are also accredited under a number of schemes that allow us to improve the facilities we are able to offer our members.


Ontarget Logo

Ontarget is a scheme that allows the club to work towards various specalisms - currently we are working on our performance, community and junior specalisms.

The scheme is run by ArcheryGB and allows the club to self reflect and work with the development team in order to improve our offering to individuals, as well as offering access to grants and funding.
