Are you interested in taking up Archery but aren't sure what the difference between the Olympics and Robin Hood's bow is?
With our beginners courses we not only teach you that but also everything you need to know about how to shoot (and hit the target!)
Our coaches are registered with ArcheryGB (the national governing body), and frequently attend coaching conferences and workshops allowing them to pick up new tips and techniques. With a coach who has worked with the national squad in our ranks, we can safely say we know what we're talking about.
All equipment is provided by us for the duration of the course and is designed for a wide range of body types. At the end of the course, no obligation, we'll measure you and tell you what equipment our expert coaches think you'd require to continue with the sport, as well as discussing other bow types and progression from the course.
As an exclusive bonus, all members who complete the course with us are eligible for discounted club membership for the first year!
At the end of the course we'll provide all successful participants a certificate which is yours to keep, along with a couple of secret freebies.
With archery being a sport that the whole family can enjoy then there is no reason why you shouldn't consider taking a beginners course with us today.
North East Archers beginners courses are an intimate affair, with a maximum of nine participants on each course you get undivided attention, sharing, at the most, your coach with two other beginners. This allows the course to progress at your own pace, and allow plenty of opportunity for shooting. Not only that but we'll also give you tips and methods that you can use at home, or work, on the bus, before you have even purchased a bow.
The courses are run as a one day intensive session, allowing rapid and continuous progression, without the need to recap concepts covered in previous weeks, as would be necessary on a traditional course. The course runs from approximately 09:30 through till 16:00, and is split into a series of mini sessions, each lasting for approximately 50 minutes, which is followed by a refreshment and comfort break. We'll even provide tea and coffee making facilities along with juice, although feel free to bring your own drinks and snacks/lunch with you.
Our juniors course at North East Archers runs on a Tuesday night from 18:15 to 19:15 over five weeks, offering an introduction to archery for juniors, guided by experienced coaches. North East Archers juniors courses run with limited numbers and are ideal for those who want to try archery but have no previous experience.
With a limited number on the course, there is plenty of opportunity for shooting while allowing progression at an individual pace, acknowledging that every junior is different.
We provide all the equipment necessary, and upon successful completion of the course, we'll award a certificate and be ready to work towards achieving the first progression badges!
Attendance at five sessions is required to successfully complete the course, although we may be able to work with you if there is one session that isn't possible!
Please note that we need a responsible parent/guardian or carer to attend each week.
Both senior and junior courses currently take place at:
